To Kill A Mocking Bird

This book was bought out of curiosity. I noticed that for some time it kept hogging the top 10 spot in the bestseller chart in one of our local daily.

The book was humble and didn't shout for attention with it's ordinary designed cover. There goes the saying of 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. But soon I found myself glued to it's page after page.

Before it was published in 1960, Harper Lee took two and a half years to write it. If I am not mistaken, 60s is the period of depression in America. And racism was rife too.

Mocking bird was choosen as the title to symbolise innocence. Vulnerablity.Or was she writing about her own childhood?

It is interesting to note that the lead character, lawyer Atticus Finch is "Atticus" to his kids. No 'daddy no 'papa'. Had it happened in our society, those kids will be labelled as rude.

Enough of my say about the book.

Get a copy. It's gonna worth your money, though price of books in Malaysia can burn a hole in your pocket.
